GemZy Is Now a Registered Trademark — Class 35 Registration Granted

GemZy, the retail brand of GlamBug, is now a registered trademark. In September 2026 the Trade Marks Registry in Mumbai granted registration of GemZy in Class 35, in the name of GlamBug Mart Private Limited, under Trade Mark No. 6975000.
This post explains the registration in plain language: the dates, what Class 35 does and does not cover, how a trademark is registered in India, and what it means for the people who buy from us and work with us. It is general information, not legal advice.
The registration at a glance

What a trademark is, and why it matters
A trademark is a name, word, logo or other sign that tells customers who stands behind a product or service. Registering it gives the owner the exclusive right to use the mark for the listed goods or services and the legal means to act against anyone who uses a confusingly similar mark. Without registration, an owner has to rely on proving a reputation, which is slower and less certain.
For a brand that sells online and through partners, this matters for practical reasons:
- Customers can trust that a product sold as GemZy comes from us.
- Copycats using the same or a similar name can be challenged.
- Partners and franchisees build on a brand with a firm legal footing.
What Class 35 covers, and what it does not
Trademarks are registered in classes. India follows the international classification, which has 45 classes: goods fall in classes 1 to 34 and services in 35 to 45. A registration protects the mark only for what the certificate lists, and only in that class.
Our Class 35 registration lists these services:
- Advertising and publicity.
- Marketing and marketing research.
- Advisory services for business management.
- Business management and organisation consultancy.
- Online advertising on a computer network.
- Administrative processing of purchase orders.
- Modelling for advertising or sales promotion.
Class 35 is also the class where retail and wholesale services generally belong, but what we hold is the list above, and it is the list that counts. Jewellery itself belongs in a different class, Class 14, which is where GlamBug holds its own registration from 2023. Each class is registered separately, which is why a brand often builds up registrations step by step. This is also why you will see our trademark posts come in a series: the first trademark in Class 35 (2022), the Class 14 registration (2023) and now GemZy.
How a trademark is registered in India
The process is the same for everyone, and it takes time:
- Application. The owner files an application with the Trade Marks Registry, naming the mark, the class and the goods or services. The filing date becomes the date from which protection runs.
- Examination. The Registry examines the application and may raise objections, for example that the mark is too similar to an existing one. The applicant replies, and sometimes attends a hearing.
- Publication. If the mark is accepted, it is published in the Trade Marks Journal so that anyone who objects can speak up. There is a period during which others may oppose the registration.
- Registration. If there is no opposition, or it is resolved, the Registry registers the mark and issues the certificate. The registration is effective from the application date.
- Renewal. The registration lasts 10 years and can be renewed for further periods of 10 years.
For GemZy, the application was filed on 24 April 2025 and registration was granted in September 2026. That is about 17 months from filing to registration.
How the registration affects how the name is used
Only the owner, or someone the owner permits, may use a registered mark in the course of trade. The ® symbol may be used once a mark is registered, and ™ before that. If you sell GemZy products, plan to work under the GemZy name or want to show the name in your marketing, ask us how it may be used. We are happy to explain.
One more step in a longer story
We unveiled GemZy on 15 January 2025, with the tagline "Silver, Too Lit", to bring premium 925 silver closer to everyday customers. Just over three months later, on 24 April 2025, we filed to protect the name. Read the GemZy launch story.
Our trademark story now spans three milestones, each protecting a different part of the business. For partners and franchisees, GemZy is a brand with the same firm foundation. Learn how the model works in Franchise Model Revealed.
