GlamBug at Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2025 — Exploring Global Craftsmanship
From 17 to 21 September 2025, GlamBug attended the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), one of the world's best-known events for fine jewellery.

We did not go to showcase. We went to learn: to see what other suppliers make, to measure our standards against theirs, and to understand where design is heading. This post explains what we looked for, and how any buyer can use a fair this way.
Why we went
- Explore craftsmanship and trends across the regions we source from: Italy, Turkey and Hong Kong. These are the places where we already work with long-term suppliers.
- Discover new suppliers and sourcing partnerships.
- Benchmark product standards, comparing finish, weight, plating and consistency against what is made elsewhere.
- Understand international design directions, so the catalogue we offer Indian jewellers stays current.
The aim was to bring more value to small businesses and jewellers in India, by knowing what good looks like on the world stage.
How to use an international fair
Go with a question
"What is new?" is too wide. Better: "Who makes chains at this finish and weight?" or "What are earrings like at this price in other markets?"
Benchmark, don't just browse
- Compare the same type of piece across several stands.
- Check finish, joins, clasps and plating on each, using the checklist in our video call guide.
- Ask for the purity mark and what it means. A 925 mark should be present, and our Italian silver guide explains why a mark alone does not prove origin.
- Ask about minimum quantities, lead times and samples.
Check before you commit
- Verify the supplier using our supplier checklist.
- Understand import rules. Importing is regulated and the rules change, as our post on the silver import restriction shows.
- Start with a sample lot.
